Cord Master seeking HUBZone Certification
Cord Master Engineering seeks to promote economic development and employment growth in North Adams through the SBA’s HUBZone program which provides access to more federal contracting opportunities.
North Adams, MA (PRWEB) October 30, 2013
The Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) program was enacted into law as part of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997. The agencies of the U.S. federal government are required by the HUBZone Empowerment Act to contract with HUBZone certified small businesses for more than 3% of their budget in the form of prime contracts to HUBZone firms.
“Fifty percent of our business is related to prime contractors in the Aerospace/Defense industry. CME’s HUBZone status will help our customers achieve compliance with federal contract allocation goals. It also provides us with more competitive and sole sourcing opportunities and gives us a 10% price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions,” said Qurban Khalsa, Chief Operating Officer. “North Adams, MA is in a qualified census tract, and we have the additional qualifications for HUBZone eligibility. Barring further government shutdown, we hope to have our application processed by January 2014.”
